1. Overview

This Privacy Policy explains what information Planning4College collects, how we use it, and your choices. By using the Service you agree to this Policy.

2. Information we collect

  • Contact information: your email address, when you ask us to save or email your matches, or sign up for updates.
  • Questionnaire responses (“your profile”): the preferences you enter to generate matches — for example budget range, GPA/test-score ranges, home state, intended fields of study, athletic interests, preferred campus size, and campus-life preferences. You choose what to provide; the questionnaire is optional and estimates are fine.
  • Limited technical information: standard server and hosting logs (such as IP address and browser type) generated automatically when you visit, used for security and reliability.

We do not ask for financial account numbers, Social Security numbers, or government IDs. Please don’t submit them.

3. How we use your information

  • To generate and display your college matches.
  • To email you your saved matches and, if you opted in, occasional updates and college-planning tips.
  • To operate, secure, maintain, and improve the Service.
  • To comply with law and enforce our Terms.

4. How we share your information

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing purposes.

Your personal data is processed only by the service providers who run the Service on our behalf, under contract and only to provide services to us:

  • Supabase — database and storage.
  • Vercel — website hosting.
  • SendGrid — email delivery.

We may also disclose information when required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, and property of Planning4College or others, and in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, with notice as required by law.

If our practices ever change, we will update this Policy and obtain any legally required consent before the new practice takes effect.

5. Children’s and students’ privacy — please read

The Service is designed for parents, guardians, and prospective students. Because our audience includes teenagers:

  • We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us information, contact hello@planning4college.com and we will delete it.
  • If you are under 18, please use the Service with a parent or guardian, and do not submit personal information without their permission.
  • A parent or guardian may contact us at any time to review, correct, or delete information relating to their student.

6. Cookies and analytics

We use only the cookies necessary to operate the site. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking. If we add analytics or advertising cookies in the future, we will disclose them here and provide any required consent or opt-out.

7. Data retention

We keep your profile and saved matches so you can revisit them and so we can improve the Service, and we retain contact information until you ask us to delete it or unsubscribe. You can request deletion at any time (Section 9).

8. Security

We use reasonable safeguards, including database access controls, to protect your information. Your saved data is stored with restricted, server-side access. No method of storage or transmission is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Your choices and rights

  • Unsubscribe: every email includes an unsubscribe link.
  • Access, correct, or delete: email hello@planning4college.com to request access to, correction of, or deletion of your information.
  • State privacy rights: depending on where you live (for example, California and other states), you may have rights to access, delete, correct, or limit the sharing of your personal information. We honor applicable rights — email us at the address above and we will respond as required by law.

10. Third-party links

The Service links to college and third-party websites we don’t control. Their privacy practices are their own; review their policies.

11. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy and will post the new version here with a revised date. Material changes will be communicated as required by law.
